Rockin´ Dopsey jr. & Zydeco Twisters - Feet Don´t Fail Me Now
Rockin Dopsie Jr. (David Rubin) intended the album ‘Feet don´t fail me now’ to be a tribute to his father. Ask him about any cut and he´ll respond with ‘that was a song my daddy did’. One of those is the song ‘Famous stars’ an homage to other zydeco artists and an adaption of his father´s ‘Shoe pick two step’. But nowhere is Dopsey´s Sr. spirit felt more strongly than on ‘Mountain Jack Blues’ a song Dopsey Sr. wrote on the bandstand of the Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans, but never got a chance to record. For this debute and tribute album Dopsey Jr. rounded up a bunch of his friends and fellow performers for a zydeco, Cajun party that happens to be based somewhere in southwest Louisiana.
‘Feet don´t fail me now’ is a mix of Cajun, R&B and Zydeco on which lots of guest musicians perform such as: Anthony Rubin, Alton Rubin, Alonzo Johnson, Paul ‘Buck’Sinegal, Shelton Sonnier, Willie The Whip, Wanda Rouzan, Kermit Ruffins, Waylon Thiodeaux and many others.
