Mary Wells Best of – My Guy

Mary Wells was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 13, 1943, and after signing to Motown Records in 1959 became the labels first real star.

Her string of hits began with “The One Who Really Loves You” (USA#8, 1962), then “You Beat me To The Punch” (USA#9, 1962), “Two Lovers” (USA#7, 1962), “You Lost The Sweetest Boy” (USA#22, 1963), “What’s Easy For Two Is So Hard For One” (USA#29, 1964) after which came the classic world wide No. 1 Hit “My Guy” (USA#1, 1964).

At the peak of her fame, she left Motown in 1964 and signed with 20th Century Fox where the hits failed to come. She has also recorded with Atlantic, Epic and Jubilee with only minor commercial success.
