Louisiana Punk From The Sixties
The Bristish Invasion had a massive impact in Louisiana. The Bad Roads seduced the amateurs of rock garage and 60´s punk specialists.
‘Too Bad’ and ‘Blue Girl’ are two icons of the genre that everybody needs to have!
‘Flash in the Pan’ of Persian Market - a meeting between psyche and pop-song - is one of this album´s hits.
When the other punk gangs were trying to copy the English bands, The Paygue with ‘Better Be Goin´’ wanted to be unique.
‘Love’ is the best song from the ‘Bad Boys’ and Ron Gray & The Countdown showed with ‘No More’, their talent for mixing rock and folk.
‘Stick With Her" and "No One Cares", extracts from two different maxi of Gaunga Dyns are as indispensable as the originals.
One way Street presents two opposite sides with first - ‘Tears in my eyes’ - a love song interpreted with great conviction, and then ‘I See The Light’ - much more intelectual.
The Surrealistic Pillar clearly declared their love for the fair sex in ‘I Like Girs’. Some other Bad Roads did brilliant covers of the great ‘Till the End Of The Day’ from Ray Davies.Folk rock again thanks to Al Michael & The Medallions and ‘I Wanna Talk To You’ highlighted by a twelve-strings guitar.
‘Keep On Pushing’ composed by Moon Dawgs had a very psyche sound when they are actually ‘garage’. Jo DeGrinda revisited ‘Smokestack Lightning’ from Howlin´ Wolf which became popular in Europe thanks to the Yardbirds and the VIP´s.
With ‘Lines And Squares’ and mostly the knocking ‘Makin´ Deals’, the Satans demonstrated a real propencity to convert the most reluctant listeners.
