Frankie Lee Sims - Walking With Frankie
Born in New Orleans, LA 1917, died in Dallas, TX 1970. One of the great down home Texas Blues men of the 1950s. His cousin was Lightning Hopkins, and he was very much the same type of artist, along with contemporaries Smokey Hogg and Lil' Son Jackson. Began his recording career with Blue Bonnet Records in 1948, and went on to record for Specialty and Ace in the 1950s. Had big Southern hits with "Lucy Mae Bluesn, "She Likes To Boogie Real Low" and "Walking With Frankie". Unable to follow up with hits in the 1960s, he struggled with alcoholism, legal troubles and ill health, finally succumbing to pneumonia in 1970.
Previously unissued "long lost" session (3 tracks were available on a 1980s bootleg LP). Recorded in New York for the Enjoy label in 1960. Features remakes of his biggest hits "Lucy Mae Bluesn and "Walking With Fmnkie". Produced by the legendary Bobby Robinson. This release completes the Frankie Lee Sims catalogue. Now nearly all of his recordings are in print. An absolute must for all fans of classic Texas Blues.
