Mick Harren Biography

The Dutch singer Mick Harren is not only known in the Netherlands, but also abroad his music has not remained unnoticed. Mick is already 20 years as a singer active in the music business and released in 2003, his first English vocal album. The album titled “Good Things” contains 15 pieces of music, which was produced and written Haro Slok (known of Kane/Volumia) also Henk Jan Smit (Idols) wrote a song for the album.

From the album 2 cd-singles have been released titled “Don't let me be misunderstood” and “Everlasting Flow”, which both reached the top 40 charts in the Netherlands. With “Everlasting Flow” Mick also scored a big hit in Hong Kong. It reached up to the no. 3 position in Hong Kong, where he became regular guest and played for big crowds. Because of this success Mick built up a good reputation with his audience. Performing in the Amsterdam Arena during the festive programme on the occasion of the marriage of princess Maxima and crown prince Willem Alexander of the Netherlands on Feb. 2nd 2002 is one of the peaks in Mick’s career. (Mick: “with fantastic colleagues like Marco Borsato and Trijntje Oosterhuis singing for the royal couple do I consider as one of my most beautiful moments in my career). But not only in the Amsterdam Arena we could hear Mick’s voice, he also played in other big venues like Ahoy (Nacht van Oranje) and has often sung in the Royal theatre Carré in Amsterdam.

Mick frequently shows its respect to other artists and has of course his own idols like: George Michael, because of his charisma and perfectionism and Robbie Williams because of his charisma and rebellious behaviour and of course Tom Jones who still proves to be number one after all those years.
Among the Dutch artists I have lots of respect for colleagues such as Marco Borsato, a perfectionist, who with his great band conquered the hearts of the public of the Netherlands and Belgium. He is already for many years the top of the Dutch music scene and is above all fine colleague. And a man who deserves also my greatest respect is the unfortunately deceased Andre Hazes. Everyone can identify itself in his music.

Due to the success of his records Mick Harren was forced by his fans to organise a big concert. In cooperation with organizer Wim Bohnenn Mick played on 29 October 2004 in a totally sold out theatre Zonnehuis in Amsterdam where he gave a smashing performance. Mick was accompanied by the great band of Andre Hazes the Hollywood Boulevard band. During this concert Mick launched his self penned new single titled “Leef je droom” an ode to the deceased Andre Hazes. The music of this great songs was composed by Jan Buis and Richard Zoer two Hollywood Boulevard Band members.

In 2005 Mick wrote the song “Doe maar gewoon” which was used as the title song of the real life soap De Veerkampjes broadcasted daily by the Dutch TV Channel SBS 6.

During the famous Jordaan festival in Amsterdam Mick gives his second big performance at the occasion of the 30th anniversary of this festival in Amsterdam. This is another milestone in the career of Mick Harren, he performed for a crowd of over 13.000 people.

In September 2006 the recordings were finished of his new album titled IK WIL JE. The first copy of the CD was presented to Viona Hering a dutch fashion stylist and a great fan of Mick. Also the first single of this album titled Nu of nooit has been released and is played on all important dutch radio stations.
